Clint J Bowers

 

Clint Bowers, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation from Claremore, Oklahoma, joined the Washington Office in January of 2011.

Clint graduated with Honors from Oklahoma State University in 2007 and went on to achieve a Master's Degree focusing on Tribal Sovereignty and Riparian Water Rights from the University of Oklahoma in 2009. During both undergrad and graduate school, Clint was a member of Phi Alpha Theta for History Honors and he attained a GTA Fellowship for his graduate studies.

After graduate school, Clint worked overseas in Iraq and Djibouti where the US Army's 15th Sustainment Brigade honored him with the Certificate of Appreciation for his efforts in education services during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn.

After a year overseas, Clint moved to Washington DC to work as the Legislative Officer dealing with policy issues for the Tribe. He currently specializes in Education, Self-Governance, Contract Support Costs and Water Rights Issues.

He advocates the Tribe's interests through his efforts and dealings with other tribes and the federal government in groups such as the National Congress of American Indians, Tribal Contract Support Cost Coalition, PL-477 Advocacy Group and the Self-Governance Advisory Committee.

Clint also works to promote his community by participating in the Oklahoma State Society in Washington and charitable runs benefitting Cherokee Veterans and the Children's Miracle Network. He also advocates for the Trail of Tears Association, Cherokee Nation Anti-Drug Network, and the White House Health Initiative: Let's Move in Indian Country.
